Linda Baird Piercy, 79, of Valdese, passed away on Saturday December 3, 2022 at Amorem Hospice in Hudson following a courageous battle with lymphoma.
Linda was born on May 6, 1943 in Burke County to the late Joseph Lynn Baird and Sadie Decker Baird. She was employed by Burke County Public Schools for 30 years as a teacher/librarian. Following retirement, Linda was a committed volunteer with the Retired Teachers Association, Burke United Christian Ministries, AARP, and COMMA. She was a faithful and active member of Enon Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday School Teacher and a member of numerous committees.
Survivors include her husband, Terry A. Piercy of the home; her daughter, Melinda P. Clark and husband David of Charleston; her son, Jason Allen Piercy and wife Luz Mery of Mount Holly; and two sisters, Rachel Baird Woodie of Valdese and Barbara Baird Williams of Morganton.
In addition to her parents Linda is preceded in death by her brothers, Joe D. Baird and Truette H. Baird; and her sister-in-law Katherine McNeely Baird.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday December 9, 2022 at Enon Baptist Church, with Rev. Bruce Piercy officiating. Interment will follow at Enon Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 6:00-8:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Service in Valdese, where the body will remain until placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the funeral hour.
The family would like to express their deep appreciation to Dr. Rick Orlowski with Carolina Oncology in Hickory, and Dr. Mary Beth Seegars of Wake Forest Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem. Their compassionate care of Linda was exceptional. Our hearts were touched by their loving care.
