Judy Penland Elmore, 72,  of Connelly Springs, NC passed away unexpectedly at Carolina Rehab Center of Burke in the early morning hours of Saturday, September 23, 2023.

Judy was born on July 14, 1951 in Yancey County to the late Herman Penland Jr and Mary Lee Penland.  She was a wonderful, loving, and caring Mother to her three children.  Judy enjoyed reading the Bible and had dedicated her life to serving her Creator, Jehovah God.  She believed in the Bible’s promises for the future, and her favorite scripture was Revelation 21:3,4.  Judy often spoke about the Bible’s promise of no more sickness, sorrow, or death in the future…and the Bible’s hope of the Resurrection comforted her after the loss of so many of her loved ones in recent years.

In addition to her Parents, Judy was predeceased in death by her husband, Ray Douglas Elmore, her son, Stevie Ray Elmore, her daughter, Melissa Lee Elmore, and her granddaughter, Brittany Elmore Wallace.

Surviving to cherish her memory are her daughter, Tammy Elmore Henry, and husband, Raymond Henry Jr of Rutherford College, NC;  brother Jerry Penland, and wife Debby Penland of Valdese, NC; sister Kathy Sprinkle and husband Dave Sprinkle of Connelly Springs, NC,  brother Jimmy Penland and Debbie Love of Connelly Springs, NC, aunt Myrtle Honeycutt of Burnsville, NC, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members.

Also surviving are her precious grandchildren, Amanda Henry Whisnant and husband Blake Whisnant of Shelby, NC; Steven Lail and wife Anna Lail of Hickory, NC; and great grandson Austin Allen of Drexel, NC.

The family would like to thank everyone who cared for Judy at Carolina Rehab of Burke.  Judy’s favorite activity there was participating in Bingo games…she won several times and enjoyed getting to choose a prize from the prize box.  Special thanks to the wonderful people who helped Judy get involved in craft activities…she made a beautiful bracelet, a picture frame with her picture on it, and a pen with a beautiful sunflower on top for her daughter to cherish.  She even made candied chocolate and caramel apple slices one day for her daughter and son-in-law that were delicious!

We would also like to thank all the friends and family that came to visit Judy, as well as all the beautiful flowers and cards.  All of you brightened her days by your visits, and she truly enjoyed each and every one of them!

All of us anxiously await seeing our beloved Mom, sister, grandmother, and friend  again soon at the Resurrection. (Acts 24:15)

A Memorial Service for Judy will be held at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Valdese, NC on Saturday, October 7, 2023, at 2:00 pm with Raymond henry officiating.
