Ms. Shelby Jean Wallace Griffin went to her Heavenly home on Tuesday, May 14, 2024, at UNC Blue Ridge in Morganton, following a period of declining health.
Shelby was born June 10, 1941, in Caldwell County, to the late Ora Van Wallace and Louise Colvard Wallace. She will always be remembered as a loving mother and a genuine and caring person. Shelby was known as a hardworking and dedicated employee, having worked for the Valdese Hospital for 23 years. She spent time volunteering as an usher for the COMMA Performing Arts Center as well as volunteering at Amorem Hospice. A faithful member of Enon Baptist Church, a member of their Senior Saints and the church choir.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, Van Junior Wallace and Lonnie Dorman Wallace; and son, Jeff Russel Griffin.
Those who will carry on her memory are daughter, Susan Griffin Deal; son, David Russel Griffin and wife Susan; sisters, Ginger Wallace Estes and husband Larry and Scottie Wallace Shaver and husband Nick; grandson, Michael Russel Zimmer and wife Heather; great-great grandsons, Zane and Logan Zimmer; nieces, Ashley Hamilton and Karey Woodward; nephews, Clay Crisp and Reggie Wallace.
Services for Ms. Shelby Griffin will be held on Sunday, May 19, 2024, at Enon Baptist Church in Morganton, at 5:00 P.M. with Rev. John Pritchard officiating. Interment will follow at the Enon Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior, from 4:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M.

I never got to know you well due to distance, but you were always kind to me and appeared to be a loving and caring person. Your heavenly family has been waiting for you. RIP Jean.
