Mrs. Joyce Faye Cooper Shehan, 83, of Connelly Springs, passed away on Saturday, November 9, 2024, at Frye Regional Medical Center following a period of declining health.
Joyce was born on May 10, 1941, in Yancey County to the late Ruford Cooper and Lillian Peterson Cooper. She was a retired daycare teacher with Burke County Public Schools and a member of Mount Hebron Baptist Church in Connelly Springs for 50 years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ollis Glenn Shehan, and two brothers, Paul and Phillip Cooper.
Surviving are her three daughters, Monica Quinn and husband Mike of Jacksonville, FL, Angie Boger and husband Donnie of Union Grove, NC, and Leslie Wilson and husband Jason of Hickory, NC. Also surviving are her four grandchildren: Chassta Atkins and husband Jimmy, Clint Mayo and wife Jenna, Megan Quinn and husband Lewis Williams, and Megan Pedulla and husband Stephen, three great-grandchildren, Lina and Rowan Atkins, and Gianna Pedulla, her siblings, Sandra Sebastian and husband Tom, Harold Dean Cooper and wife Wilma, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 13, 2024, at 3:00 P.M. at Mount Hebron Baptist Church, with Rev. Eric James officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery, with Tom Sebastian, Robin Sanders, Jerry Martin, Stephen Pedulla, Brandon Hadden and Jacob Ashley serving as pallbearers, and Mike Quinn as an alternate.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, from 2:00 until 3:00 P.M. at Mount Hebron Baptist Church in Connelly Springs.
