Mr. Joseph Conley Fleming, 76, of Morganton, passed away on Wednesday, April 12, 2023 at his residence.
Joseph was born on August 10, 1946 in Burke County to the late Joseph Alexander Fleming and Annie Huffman Fleming. He was a member of St. John’s Baptist Church and was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp. Joe was employed as a sanding supervisor for many years in the furniture manufacturing industry. He loved woodworking and collecting stamps and coins.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Ralph, Dennis, and Johnnie Fleming.
Survivors include his beloved wife, Karen Setzer Fleming of the home, three children: Rebecca Hudson and husband Tim of Morganton, Joseph Patrick Fleming and wife Shelia of Florida, and Maria Fleming of Vale. Also surviving are five grandchildren: Timmy Hudson, Skylar Hudson and wife Abby, Benny Hudson, Tyler Fleming, and Taylor Fleming, and special great-grandchildren, Brantley, and Maylee Hudson.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, April 17, 2023 at 1:00 P.M. at St. John’s Baptist Church Cemetery, with Rev. Blain Hudson and Rev. Anthony Patton officiating. Military honors will be provided by the US. Marine Corp and the Caldwell County Veterans Honor Guard. He will lie in state at the cemetery from 12:30-1:00 P.M.
In lieu of flowers, memorials and donations may be sent to the family at 100 Goins Dr., Valdese , NC 28655, and will be gathered at this residence in the coming days.
