John Monroe McDaniel, 75, of Drexel, passed away on Tuesday, February 6, 2024, at his home.
John was born February 14, 1948, in Burke County to Addie Walker McDaniel and the late John Hampton McDaniel. He served honorably in the United States Army in the 11th Armored Division Calvary and was a member of Praise Assembly of God. He participated in the Royal Rangers Ministry for over thirty years and enjoyed gardening and singing.
He is preceded in death by his second wife, Marjorie Harllee McDaniel.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Lynda Scoggins McDaniel; sons, Bryan Edward McDaniel of Glen Alpine, and John Paul McDaniel of Morganton; daughter, Susannah Rene Hoke of the home; ten grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He is also survived by his brothers, Keith Wayne McDaniel of Morganton, Jerry Lee McDaniel of Morganton, and James Edward McDaniel of Morganton; and sisters, Linda Kay Robinson of Morganton, Margaret Ann Coffey of Morganton, Janice Mae Robinson and husband Jimmy of Morganton; stepdaughters, Tina Turner and Kim Deal; stepsons, Jason Sloop, Benji and wife Julie Sloop and eight step grandchildren, all of Rockwell.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, February 12, 2024, at 12:00 PM in the Chapel of Heritage Funeral Service with Rev. John Henderson and Rev. Kevin Crawford officiating.
Interment will be on Tuesday, February 20, 2024 at 1:00 PM at the Salisbury National Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM on Monday prior to the service.

Lynda, I am so sorry. We all love John so much. He was always so uplifting and showed the love if God to everybody he met. .
Linda, you and John are so kind and friends with both of us. We will miss John along with you and his family. Me and Claudette are distant friends of you both but we consider you both very close friends. We both keep you in our prayers and want to see you and talk on the phone.
