Mr. Joe Tommy Hensley, 68, of Connelly Springs, passed away on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, at UNC-BR Morganton.
Joe was born on August 26, 1956, in Burke County to the late John Hensley and Margaret Bradshaw Hensley. He was previously employed as a sander in furniture manufacturing.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Johnny Hensley, and his aunt and uncle, Titus and Lillie Mae Shuffler, who raised him, and served as his surrogate parents.
Survivors include his beloved wife, Pamela Martin Hensley of the home, three children, Rebecca Shelton of Apopka, Fl, Tommy Joe Hensley and wife Jessica of Valdese, and Joshua Brittain and wife Alexandria Mooney of Lenoir. Also surviving are four grandchildren; Hailey Shelton, Macey Shelton, Jada Williams, and Peyton Isaiah Hensley, one great-grandchild, Denym Shelton, two sisters, Diane Whisnant and brother in-law Rocky Whisnant, and Kay Mosteller, and two cousins who were like his sisters, Debbie Lail and Marlene Willix.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 18, 2024, at 5:00 P.M. at Thrive Church of Morganton, 215 Pete Brittain Rd., Morganton, NC, with Pastor Paul Kidd officiating.
The family will receive friends on Friday from 4:00 until 5:00 P.M. at Thrive Church.

I loved Tommy! He could make you smile on your worst day. Always had a story with lessons learned for you too. A good man for sure. He loved his family and proudly spoke of them often. Praying for you all.

Becky,Tommy Joe, and family Neil and I grew up with these kids now obviously adults and Tommy was always around us whether playing ball or just us goofing off being kids. He was comical but could turn serious quick! I’m deeply sorry for your loss and just recently found out. My deepest sympathy
