Mr. Joe Ervin Miller, 94, of Hickory, passed away on Friday May 17, 2024, at College Pines Rehabilitation Center after a period of declining health.
Mr. Miller was born February 8, 1930, in Catawba County, a son of the late Loy Franklin and Zelda Pearl Hawn Miller. Joe was a faithful and livelong member of the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church and served his country as a member of the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He retired as a Tool Forger after 35 years with Forest City Tool Co.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Peggy Walsh Miller, daughter-in-law, Susan Miller, brothers, Harold William Miller, Charles Franklin Miller, twin brother, John Alvin Miller, sisters, Helen Virginia Frye, Evelyn Elizabeth Pitts, Barbara Jean Isenhour, Mary Frances Yount, Dorothy Nell Reed and Revonda Pearl Harris.
Surviving is hie son, Calvin Miller of Newton and daughter, Joanna Heilman and husband Robert of Valdese. Also surviving are the apples of his eyes, his grandchildren Joseph Heilman of Valdese, Dawn Parise (Mike) of Orlando, FL, Beth Blaise (Matthew) of Raleigh, NC, great-grandchildren, Titus Robinson, Treasure Robinson, Shepherd Robinson, Steele Robinson of Orlando, FL, Jonah Blaise, Abigail Blaise, Sam Blaise of Raleigh, NC and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition are special friends, JoAnn Brundage and family from Bath, NY and wonderful neighbors Bob and Christina White of Hickory.
Funeral Services for Joe Ervin Miller will be held at 3:00 P.M. Saturday May 25, 2024, in the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church with Rev. David Drysdale officiating. Interment with Military Honors will follow in the Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 2 until 3:00 P.M. Saturday at Zion Lutheran Church in Hickory.
