Jerry Gene Huffman, 77, of Morganton, NC, went to his heavenly home to be with the Lord on Friday, May 24, 2024, at Grace Hospital after an extended period of declining health.
Jerry was born March 20, 1947, in Burke County, the son of the late Carlos Doyt and Estelle Smith Huffman. Jerry was a faithful member of Walker’s Chapel Baptist Church until sickness prevented him from attending. He was drafted into the United States Army during the Vietnam War and served his country proudly. Jerry worked and retired from DANA Corporation.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers: Harold, Dwight, and Howard Huffman; and a sister, Carol Cooper.
Surviving are his wife of forty-two years, Debora Hunsinger Huffman of the home; his daughters, Regina Smith (Brad) of Morganton, Rowena Miller (Chris) of Connelly Springs and grandson, Landon Miller, who was his pride and joy, and Tammy Rigdon (Charles); brother, Robert Huffman (Diane); grandchildren: Ashley Parlier (Tyler) and Dillion Saulman (Megan); greatgrandson, Max Parlier, as well as several nieces and nephews.
A Gathering of family and friends will be held on Wednesday, May 29, 2024, from 12 PM until 2 PM at Walker’s Chapel Baptist Church.
The Funeral will follow at 2 PM at the church with Rev. Danny McNeely and Rev. Dr. Steve Parker officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery with military rites provided by the North Carolina Army National Guard.
Flowers are welcomed and appreciated.

I worked with Jerry at Dana. He was a nice guy. I’m very sorry to hear he has passed.
I am so sorry for your loss. Jerry will be missed, but lovingly remembered. He was so proud of all his family. Debbie, Rowena, Regina, Tammy and all the ‘grands’ just look back on the sweet times you shared together. May these memories give you peace and strength in the days ahead.
