Jerry David McKinney, 62, of Drexel, passed away on Monday, January 15, 2024 at Hickory Falls following a period of declining health.
David was born July 12, 1961 in Ohio to Velair Daniels McKinney and the late Jerry Donald McKinney. He was a member of Morganton First Church of God and in his younger years loved to go around and greet all of his friends at church. David loved babies and dogs, and watching different old TV shows, but most of all; Star Trek.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by sister, Teresa Fender and husband Dale of Drexel; brother, Matthew McKinney and wife Lesa of Morganton; nieces, Julie Storie and husband Bobby, and Emily Myles and husband Jabari; nephews, Brandon Fender and wife Stacy, and Josh McKinney and wife Christine; great-nephews, Camden, Parker, and Jace; and great-nieces, Jaina, Corinne, Devan, and Amara.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, January 19, 2024 at 4:00 PM at Morganton First Church of God with Pastor John Henderson officiating. Interment will follow at Burke Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends prior to the service from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM on Friday.
Heritage Funeral Service and Crematory in Valdese is assisting the family.
