James Ray Miller, 58, of Hickory, passed away on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, at Catawba Valley Medical Center.
James was born on October 24, 1966, in Catawba County, the son of the late Barbara Jean Wallace Morgan.
In addition to his mother, he is preceded in passing by his father, Earl Morgan.
Those left to cherish his memory include his six children, Hunter Miller, Destinee Miller, Ashley Miller, James Earl Miller, Carrie (Matthew) Elliott, and Carla Cook; eleven grandchildren, Stuart Connor, Marcus Johnson, Arielle Hastings, Jackson Miller, Braxton Miller, Porsche Miller, Hunter Miller, Addison Elliott, Mason Elliott, Maddy Elliott, and Loralei Elliott; sister, Shelia (Eddie) Metz; two brothers, Michael Miller and Charles Morgan; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, January 19, 2025, at 3:00 PM in the Chapel of Heritage Funeral Service with Rev. Kyle Wilcox officiating.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, from 2:00 until 3:00 P.M at Heritage Funeral Service in Valdese.

I’m sorry for your loss James was a good man always willing to help out someone if they needed help I have so many memories of us are fishing trips our little weekend getaways it’s so hard to believe he’s gone but I guess God needed another angel I’m not going to say goodbye but I will say I’ll see you later I’ll meet you on the other side fly high cousin until we meet again rest in peace
