James Luther Hampton, 85, of Connelly Springs passed away unexpectedly at his home on Saturday, December 17, 2022.
James was born in Catawba County on September 26, 1937 to the late Howard Hampton and Maude Brittain. He loved to travel, and he enjoyed driving trucks for over fifty-five years.
He was preceded in passing by his parents; son, James Randy Hampton; wife of 25 years, Catherine Teague Hampton; brother, Bill Hampton of Lincolnton; sister, Marcalene Crouse; and granddaughter, Randi Nichole Gilliam.
Those left to cherish his memory include his daughter, Cathy Hampton Hildebran and husband Bryan Hildebran; Son, Joshua Hampton; nephew, Marshall Lee Teague; grandchildren, Crystal Fisher, Amber Hampton, McKenzie Nicole Hampton, and Randy Lee Bivens; great-grandchildren, Madison Fisher, Zakeyra Leach, Zykez Leach, Zachariah Gilliam, Kendra Moore, Jocelyn Bivens, and Jordan Lee Bivens; brother, Ronnie Hampton and wife Jean; and sister Willie Lee Bingham.
A Memorial Service will be held at Longview Church of God on Thursday, December 22, 2022 at 6:00 PM with Pastor Ken Jenkins officiating.
It’s bitter-sweet losing you Dad. I will always miss you, but I know you’re finally home.
I’m so sorry to hear this. I worked with Jim for years at HT Hackney. He was a hard worker up until his retirement. He definitely was a character and kept us laughing with his stories of his experiences while driving a truck. RIP Jim, you were definitely one of the good guys!
