Mr. James Houston (Jimmy) McEntire, 84, of Valdese passed from his earthly home on September 11, 2024.
He grew up and spent most of his life in the Crowhill neighborhood. He was preceded in death by his Parents, Glenn and Dorothy McEntire and sister, Faye Scull and dear friend, Rita Byrd.
He is survived by daughters Jill and Elaine and their mother, Bobbie McEntire all of Valdese; sisters Frances Glasbrook (Bruce) and Jean Dale (Ronnie), Both of Valdese and Ann Sunday of Raleigh, grandchildren, Ryan Phillips, Kasey Vodek, and Derek Lowman, four great-grandchildren, one nephew, eight nieces and their families.
James graduated from Francis Garrou High School in 1958 and attended both Appalachian State and Western Piedmont. He was a mechanical contractor for Duke Energy during the building of the McGuire Nuclear Station. He also worked as a journeyman millwright supervisor for Daniels Construction, among other companies, for many years.
Jimmy loved boating, water skiing , the Tarheels and Carolina Panthers and most of all, his dogs. He was a member of First United Methodist Church.
At his request, a private Graveside Service will be held at a later date.
The family would like to thank Atrium Health at Home, Blue Ridge Grace Hospital, Amorem and Heritage Funeral Service for their loving care.
