James Harrison Brown, 85, of Valdese, passed away on Saturday, April 20, 2024, following a period of declining health.
James was born February 19, 1939, in McDowell County, NC, a son of the late Luther and Grace Kelly Brown. His working career was in security management, having worked for the Valdese Hospital as Chief of Security for 35 years and had been previously employed as Captain for Pinkerton Security. During his leisure time, James enjoyed fishing and watching the endless classics on the western television channel.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Stephen Brown; sister, Juanita Woods; and brothers, John Brown and Charles Brown.
Those to carry on his memory are a son, Terry Brown of Valdese; sister and caregiver, Geraldine White; brothers, Eugene Brown and wife Barbara, Ronnie Brown; grandchildren, Destinee Barrett, Reekah Mooneyham and husband Ryan, Barrett Westerbeck, Trinity Podger; great-great grandchildren, Salem Mooneyham and Colton Mooneyham.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, April 27, 2024, at 3PM at the 7th Day Adventist Church of Marion located at 188 Ward Dr., Marion, NC 28752.

He will be missed. Downtown Jimmy Brown was always concerned about the people he worked with at Valdese. He also had a quirky sense of humor. Prayers for you Terry and all his family during y’all’s time of sorrow.
