James Edward “Jamie” Metcalf Jr., 41, of Morganton, passed away on Wednesday, March 8, 2023 at UNC Healthcare Blue Ridge.
Jamie was born March 14, 1981 in Burke County to the late James Edward Metcalf Sr. and Karen Ellis Metcalf. Jamie was known to his family and friends as “Fat Boy” and loved joking, singing, and being with his friends and family.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Kelly Metcalf and Betty Shuffler; maternal grandfather, Paul Ellis; and uncle, Kelly Metcalf Jr.
He is survived by his wife, Britton Ellofson Metcalf; children, Jamie “Trey” Metcalf III, David Metcalf, Matthew Metcalf, Hayden Metcalf, and Presley Metcalf; sisters, Misti Metcalf, and Chrystal Metcalf; maternal grandmother, Della Ellis; and numerous, aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
A gathering of friends will be held on Thursday, March 16, 2023 at Heritage Funeral Service from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM.
Memorials may be made to Heritage Funeral Service to help the family with expenses.

Dad, I don’t know what to say, you left when I was young and I always blamed you for everything but you’re still my dad. You were my biggest motivation for everything I did so I thank you for that. God bless your soul.
You will always be missed, I remember all the stuff we went through together. I will definitely see you in the future brother.
