James Edward Keenan, known as Jimmy, of Valdese NC, passed away on August 25, 2024, at the age of 69, after a courageous battle with heart disease in Charlotte, NC. Born in Daytona Beach, Florida, Jimmy lived a life marked by devotion to his family and a vibrant spirit that drew people to him.
Jimmy is survived by his beloved mother, Nancy Keenan; wife and partner in life of 34 years, Cynthia Keenan; his daughters, Christi Winebarger (Chad); and Stacey O’Dell; his grandsons, Kaleb, Christian, Kameron; his granddaughters, Laney and Bailey; his sister, Carole Powell (Jack); and many other family members and friends that brought him happiness. He was preceded in death by his father, Bill Keenan.
Jimmy excelled in his career in the automotive industry as a Mechanic and Service Manager. He retired after a successful 26 year career as an Automation Specialist. His professional expertise and commitment to excellence left a lasting impact on colleagues and the many he mentored.
In addition to spending time with his family, friends, and felines, Jimmy’s hobbies brought him immense joy and satisfaction throughout his life. He had a passion for both playing and coaching baseball, and was an avid fan of the Baltimore Orioles. He also had a passion for classic rock music, fluent in the names of the bands, members, and songs. He enjoyed building his own cars with his natural ability to repair and restore them. He loved the tranquility of the beach and ocean, whether it was seaside or on cruise voyages.
