James Allen Burk, 72, of Lenoir, passed away on Monday, March 4, 2024, at Amorem of Valdese following a period of declining health.
James was born September 5, 1951, in the District of Columbia, a child of the late Tommy Joe Burk and Joan Lee Shields Burk. He was a firefighter, EMT, deputy sheriff and owner of Elk River Ambulance service in Missouri. He loved serving his community. He worked as a security officer for Griffith Security for 20 years.
In addition to his parents, James is preceded in passing by his brother, Tom Burk.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 38 years, Mary Lou Burk of Lenoir; stepmother, Nellie Burk of Marion; children, Matthew Farrar of Fort Smith, Arkansas, Andrew Burk of Hickory, and Holly Burk of Lenoir; granddaughters Kimberly Burk and Elena Burk of Lenoir; and brothers, Paul Burk (Sharon) of Marion and Roy Burk of Missouri.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, March 10, 2024, from 2:00 PM – 3:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Service.
Memorial Contributions may be made to the COPD Foundation at 3300 Ponce De Leon Boulevard, Miami, FL 33134.

James has been my neighbor for 25 years,He was kind and caring always offeri his help.He will be missed very much.
