Jack Ronald Dillingham, 81, of Morganton, passed away on Sunday, March 3, 2024 at UNC Blueridge following a period of declining health.
Jack was born February 15, 1943 in Ruth, NC to the late Wayne Curtis Dillingham and Ossie Harvey Dillingham. He was an involved parent and coached his sons ball teams for many years. He retired from the NC Department of Corrections where he worked at Marion Correctional Institution and as a unit manager at Foothills Correctional Institution. Everyone who knew him will remember his keen sense of humor.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a son, Jason Hollifield; brothers, Donald Dillingham, Arthur Dillingham, Dennis Dillingham, and Jerry Dillingham; and sister, Frances Dillingham McNeely.
He is survived by his loving wife, Linda Hyatt Dillingham; sons Phillip Dillingham (Amy), Patrick Dillingham (Mary Tipton), Jim Hollifield , and Chris Hollifield (Christi); and daughter, Lynn Dillingham Ingram. Also surviving are his grandsons, Brian Ingram (Ashley), Nathan Ingram (Dara), Ethan Dillingham, Liam Dillingham, Aidan Dillingham, Evan Dillingham, Zachary Hollifield (Brianna), and Josh Hollifield; and granddaughter, Sarah Hollifield. Also surviving are his great-grandchildren, McKayla Ingram, Nicholas Ingram, Kellan Ingram, Owen Ingram, and Lilly Hollifield; all of whom Jack loved unconditionally.
