Mrs. Helen Stilwell Huffman Propst, 85, of Connelly Springs, went home to be with her Lord on Monday, August 12, 2024.
Helen was born on May 8, 1939 in Burke County, a daughter of the late Henry and Lela Shuford Stilwell. She was a wonderful mother and fine Christian lady. She dearly loved her Lord and had a heart of gold in dealing with other people.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in passing by her husbands, Leonard “Len” Huffman and Leonard Propst; brothers, Russ Stilwell, Roy Stilwell, and Harley Shuford; and children, Don Smith and Jerry Smith.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children, James Allen (Sandy) Huffman of Connelly Springs, Danny Smith of Morganton, Terry Smith of Morganton, David (Sandy) Riddle of Forest City, Ronnie Smith, and Carol (Steve) of Granite Falls; sister, Thelma Huffman; stepchildren, Billy Propst, Dale Propst Summers, Ellen Propst Dye, Linda Propst Miller, Brian Propst Angel, and Edward Propst Tapper; and numerous grandchildren, greatgrandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 21, 2024, at 1 PM at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with Pastor Doug Price and Assistant Pastor Jason Hoyle officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends the night prior to the service at Heritage Funeral Service on Tuesday, August 20, 2024 from 6 PM to 8 PM.
Visitors are welcome at the family’s residence at 4665 Persimmon Rd., Connelly Springs, NC 28612.

To Our Step Brother’s An Sister’s, We are An was sow grateful that Maw Helen, stayed buy our dad’s side through thick an thin before his passing. I know they has been alot of sickness over the years. I got to see Maw Helen, Acouple different times since Dad passed. Helen, thank you for putting Flowers up at Dad’s Grave from time to time. The ones of us Propst Kids that did get to visit just know you were a blessing to Us. Too our Step Brother’s An Sister’s we have u all in our Prayers.
