Helen Abernathy Huffman, 91, of Hickory, passed away on Monday, April 1, 2024 at Carolina Caring following a period of declining health.

Helen was born October 14, 1932 in Catawba County, to the late Gorman Abernathy and Etra Parker Abernathy. She was an active member of Providence Baptist Church and the Hickory Chapter 155 order of the Eastern Star. She retired from Southern Furniture after many years of dedicated service as an accountant.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Harold Huffman.

She is survived by sons, Randy Huffman and wife Kathy of Vale, and Allen Huffman and wife Tammy of Vale; sisters, Faye Lail of Maiden; and grandchildren, Travis Huffman and wife Kelsey, Trey Huffman, Emily Combs and husband Josh, Kaitlyn Seagle and husband Bryan, Kristin Huffman and husband Gary, and Gracie Huffman. Also surviving are great grandchildren, James Shook, Mila Combs, Leah Huffman Waldrop, Laniey Huffman; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 4, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Providence Baptist Church with Pastor Chris Dale and Rev. Ernest Richards officiating. A private interment will be at Catawba Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the church.
