Mrs. Hazel Jeanette Dale “Nanny” Lindsay, 100, of Morganton, passed away on Saturday October 5, 2024, at her residence, after a full and wonderful life.

Mrs. Lindsay was born December 11, 1923, in Buke County, a daughter of the late James Hamelton and Maude Della Small Dale.  She was a member of Morganton First Presbyterian Church and retired as a preschool worker in the daycare industry.  Hazel earned her nick name by being a “Nanny” to everyone.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Marvin “Bill” Lindsay and two daughters, Judy Lindsay and Betsy Leonard.

Those left to cherish her memory and her two grandsons, (who for the past sixteen years were her caregivers) Corey Leonard (Melissa) and Jake Leonard all of Morganton and a great-grandchild, Raven Leonard of Morganton.

Mrs. Lindsay will be interred beside her husband and daughters with a Private Graveside in Forest Hill Cemetery, at a later date.
