Mr. Harry James Corpening Jr., 59, of Morganton, passed away on Wednesday, September 27, 2023 at his residence, following a period of declining health.
Harry was born on February 3, 1964 in Burke County to Harry James Corpening Sr. and the late Nancy McClain Corpening. He was previously employed with Waldensian Bakeries for over 30 years.
In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by a brother, Tracy Corpening.
Surviving is his father, Harry Corpening Sr., and a brother, Sidney Corpening. Also surviving is a niece, D’Onna Duncan, and her children; Daniel Cail, Greyson Duncan, Mayali Cali, and Daniel Cail Jr.
Private services will be held by the family at a later date.

Harry was a great friend and a better person. I loved Harry like a brother and will miss him dearly. Always happy and always smiling, what a great heart he had. Rest peacefully, my friend!

Harry Sr. and Sid. I grew up with you all. Knowing that I would be taken care of and Mrs. Nancy would set me straight in a heartbeat. I remember shooting ball at the garage all day then go cruise Valdese. I can see JR. in the black Trans-am. Always laughing and smiling. I will miss him .

I’ve known Junior and his family since he was just a little boy. They are such a wonderful family and my sincere regards to them and also his family now. Junior will always be remembered with a smile on his face! So thankful for the resurrection and look forward to seeing him again where there will be no more sickness, sorrow or death. Worked with Harry in the late 80s and the early 90s was a very good co-worker and friend. Always supportive, Helpful, and good friend. His mother Nancy was also my mother’s caretaker for several years. I haven’t seen Harry in quite a few years but think about him and his family often. Prayers for his family, He will be missed.

So sorry to hear of Harry`s passing. I know that his health was an issue and now he can be free of any pain that he experienced. Harry was the kindest man that I knew.
