Mr. Guy Ransom Steelman, 83, of Connelly Springs, passed away on Wednesday, January 31, 2024, at Gordon Hospice of Statesville following a period of declining health.
Guy was born on May 20, 1940, in Catawba County, to the late Jessie M. Steelman and Lena Lunsford Steelman. Guy honorably served in the Army National Guard as a PFC 120th Infantry and then on to a career working in the concrete industry. His retirement was spent with friends and family, camping, four-wheeling and riding motorcycles.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Joan Annas Steelman; his daughter, Karen Steelman; sister, Rosie Hefner and infant sister, Shirley Steelman.
Survivors include daughters, Patricia D. Shew and husband Ronnie, and Laura S. Roland and husband Tim; brother, Fred Steelman and wife Fran; sister, Doris Steelman; nephew and best friend, Jeff Hefner and wife Wanda; grandchildren, Johnathan Greer and wife Ashley, Nathan Steelman, Cody Hutchinson and Jessie Angel; and numerous great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services for Guy Steelman will be held on Saturday, February 3, 2024, at 11:00 A.M. in the Chapel of Heritage Funeral Service with Pastor Fred Steelman officiating. Interment to follow at Burke Memorial Park in Morganton.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M. on Saturday at Heritage Funeral Service.
