Mr. Grover David Blossfield, 76, of Valdese, NC, went home to be with His Lord on Monday, February 24, 2025, following a period of declining health.
Grover was born on November 7, 1948, in Kanawha, WV, a son of the late Harry Bishop and Tasey Estep Blossfield. He was a loving father and devoted friend. Those who knew him remember him for his meek and quiet spirit which endeared him to everyone he met. He loved church and praising His Lord, and he served as a Deacon at Dayspring Church of God. He also served in the United States Army for 21 years until retirement, including in the Vietnam War.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in passing by his bothers, John Hanshaw of WV and Daniel Lee Blossfield of WV; two grandchildren, Cameron Curry of WV and Carrie Kidd of TX, and son, John David Blossfield of WV.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 58 years, Cheryl Evelyn Wilson Blossfield of Valdese, NC; daughters, Terri Blossfield of NC and Mary Evelyn Kidd (Willard) of NC; grandchildren, Jessica Kidd, Ernie Kidd, Kristen Kidd, Jesse Curry, Travis “Dylan” Curry, and Shawn Michael Blankenship; greatgrandchildren, Jex Rydell Curry, Logan Maupin, and Preston Maupin; sister, Mary Gould; special friends, Pastor Greg and Deborah Bartram of NC; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, March 4, 2025, at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of Heritage Funeral Service with Pastor Gregory Allen officiating. Interment will follow at the Western North Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Black Mountain at 2:00 PM. Military Honors will be presented by the North Carolina Army National Guard.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Tuesday, March 4, 2025, from 10 AM to 11 AM at Heritage Funeral Service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family at 1507 Main St. E, Valdese, NC 28690.
Heritage Funeral Service and Crematory is assisting the family.
