Geraldine Elizabeth Chambers Thompson, 89, of State Road, NC, departed this life to her heavenly home on Thursday November 30, 2023 at her residence following a period of declining health.
Geri was born on May 16, 1934 in Haywood County to the late William Frank Chambers, Sr. and Margorie Mozell Lankford Chambers. Geri was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker. She was a member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church in State Road, NC.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her first husband, Wiley Carroll Jones and her husband of over 50 years, Robert “Smiley” Thompson; and her son Randy Jones; her brother, John Chambers; her sister-in-law Rita Chambers, and her son-in-law Ted Billings.
Survivors include her children; Carolyn Jones of State Road; Leslie K. Roupe of State Road, and Sheree Billings; her daughter-in-law, Sharon Jones of Hudson; her sister-in-law, Bobbie Chambers of Franklin; her brother, William Chambers, Jr.; her grandchildren, Chandra Hoosier, Jennifer Fuller and husband JR, Shannon Church and wife Jamie, Chris Wyatt and wife Alissa, and Andy Thompson and wife Connie; surviving is a step-son, Joe Thompson and wife SuAnne and a daughter-in-law Sandra Thompson all of Valdese; and 9 great-grandchildren: Quincy, Kenley, Sydney, Brannon, Brayson, Briley, Sloan, Gunnar and Cutler
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday December 2, 2023 at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church in State Road, NC with Rev. John Newton officiating. Interment will follow in the Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 1:00-2:00 PM at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church.
