Our beloved mother, Frieda N. Beausoleil ( Moses), passed peacefully into the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ and reunited with her two sons Robert and Randy on April 1st.
Frieda had six children: Randy Beausoleil, predeceased, Judy Beausoleil (Morganton,NC), Susan Beausoleil Randolph (Syracuse, NY), Deanna Singleton (Ricky) (Morganton, NC), Lisa Smith (Tim) (Mooresville, NC)., and Robert O. Beausoleil (predeceased). She was blessed to enjoy 11 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
Frieda was raised in Burke County in a rural setting at a time where life was simple and struggles were known to all. Her family are believed to be of Irish decent. They worked the land gardening diligently, preserving the abundance it produced. Mama had many pleasant memories; one of which was sleeping on a straw mattress. Her grandmother, Eliza Jane, who was a God fearing woman, shared the bed with her. As her daughters, we believe the presence of her grandmother bathed our mom’s life with prayers.
Mom moved to California as a young woman to pursue a job while boarding with relatives. This is where she met her husband, Rolland O. Beausoleil. Dad was stationed in CA, AFB, and was finishing up his duties. They married and began their family, but, as time passed, it became evident they longed to be closer to family. Dad was from the Adirondack Mountains in Tupper Lake, NY. After testing both areas, the South was the winning choice.
The family settled in Lenoir, NC, where they continued to grow their family. Mom taught us the importance of having a relationship with God The love of her children was of great value. Unfortunately, tragedy came when their son was diagnosed with illness and eventually died. As with many families, this splintered the marriage. Mom settled in NC, while dad returned to his hometown.
Frieda enjoyed a simple life and lived out her days accordingly. Some of her favorites were visits to the thrift stores, garage sales and flea markets. She preferred the great outdoors, often spending time in the yard or walking for hours in a nearby cemetery or a local park. Given a choice of where to vacation, the mountains always ranked #1. Birds and babies would stop her in her tracks with adoration at their voices.
In mom’s later years, she resided at the Cambridge House. Her daughters and family continued to be a constant support. Mom was known to break out into song. She enjoyed Bingo, always collecting Cambridge dollars to redeem. Many friendships were formed over her 14 years there. Her family is very grateful for the care and compassion provided by the staff. In addition, the visiting pastor Danny Oakley provided ongoing counsel and instruction to mom, which brought much peace at times of struggle.
A Graveside service will be held Tuesday, April 4, 2023 at 1:00 PM at Zion Memorial United Methodist Church with Pastor Danny Oakley officiating. The family will receive friends at the graveside following the conclusion of the service.
Heritage Funeral Service and Crematory is assisting the family.
