Mr. Fredie Ray Duckworth, 82, of Morganton, passed away on Wednesday, March 22, 2023, at his residence, following a period of declining health.
Fredie was born on August 27, 1940, in Burke County to the late Carl E. Duckworth and Carrie Brittain Duckworth. He was a member of Salem United Methodist Church, and was a truck driver for Waldensian Bakeries for several years before going on to work and retire with Carolina Freight, later known as ABF Trucking.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son, Fredie Ray Duckworth Jr., and a brother, Max Duckworth.
Surviving is his beloved “Bride” of 63 years, Kathryn Brendle Duckworth of the home, and three children; Ray Duckworth, Brenda Duckworth and Jon Duckworth, all of Morganton. Also surviving is a grandson, Patrick Lewis, three special granddaughters, Danielle Wilson, Madison Wilson and Sarah Roper, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, March 26, 2023 at 3:00 P.M. at Salem United Methodist Church, with Rev. Norm Jones officiating. Interment will follow at Burke Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, from 2:00 until 3:00 PM at Salem United Methodist Church in Morganton.
