Mr. Fred “FG” Gordon Wilson, 80, of Granite Falls, passed away on Friday, February 20, 2025, at his residence, following a period of declining health.
Fred was born on December 18, 1944, in Caldwell County to the late Fred Garrison Wilson and Mary Penley Wilson. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was a retired woodworker. Fred was also a member of New Hope Christian Community Church, and was an avid artist, boxer and musician throughout his life.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Timothy Wilson, three siblings, Sherri, Betty and Robert, and two wives, Olivia and Sharon.
Surviving are his three children, two daughters, Crystal Gilbert and husband Eric of Hildebran, Deborah Hudson of Granite Falls, and their mother, Ruth Wilson, and one son, Jason Wilson Honeycutt of Johnson City, TN, and his mother Cheryl Honeycutt. Also surviving are seven grandchildren: Eric Jr. and wife Scarlett, Noah, Andrew and Candace Gilbert, Alex Hudson, Nathan Honeycutt and Lincoln Matlock, one sister, Barbara Wilson and one brother, Ray Wilson, numerous nieces and nephews, and a special thanks to his caregiver, Hope Barrett.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, at 3:00 P.M. in the Chapel of Heritage Funeral Service, with Rev. Jerry Tester officiating, and military honors provided by the N.C. National Guard.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, from 2:00 until 3:00 P.M at Heritage Funeral Service in Valdese.
