Floyd D. “Dee” Lambert

Floyd Delon Lambert, 88, passed away peacefully on September 14, 2023, surrounded by his loving family.

“Dee”, a longtime resident of Lafayette, LA, was the son of the late Forest Lambert and the former Eleanor Robinette. Originally a native of Valdese, NC, Dee was the second of six children in his family. He grew up participating in all sports, but his true love was baseball. His skill and dedication to this sport enabled Dee to attend the University of North Carolina, the first in his family to attend college. He played for UNC until he was drafted, just prior to graduating, into the Chicago Cubs farm team. It was during his time playing in the minors that he was brought to Lafayette and ultimately discovered what would be his life’s work. A resident of Lafayette for over 60 years, Dee was a successful businessman in the Oil & Gas Industry, founding several companies including Concentric Pipe, Quality Machine & Supply, Quality Mud and Lafayette Liftboats. It was also during this time that he met and married his wife, Carol Ann Moore Lambert, raising four children together. Dee continued his active participation in different sports throughout his adult life. He was an incredible bowler, having once considered turning pro. He was a scratch golfer and spent many years of his life breeding and racing horses. However, his family was always most important to him; he dearly loved his siblings, Joyce, Maxie, Mary, Judy and Druey, as well as all his children and grandchildren. If you met Dee, you liked Dee. He was a gracious, gentle and unconditionally generous man who treated everyone as a friend. He will be deeply missed by all that knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Joyce Lambert Childress; and brother, Maxie Lambert.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Carol Ann Moore Lambert; sons, Floyd Delon Lambert Jr., Todd Lambert (Laina), Troy Lambert (Shaunda Askins) and Timothy Lambert (Maria); daughters, Tanya Lambert Taylor (Tommy) and Tara Lambert Short (Michael); grandchildren, Cole Lambert, Connor Lambert, Cooper Lambert, Liam Lambert, Addison Short, Griffin Lambert, Cody Lambert, and Madison Lambert; sisters, Mary Pearson and Judy Lambert; brother, Druey Lambert; sister-in-law, Genevieve Baudoin Lambert.

A Graveside Service will take place on November 11, 2023 at Hillcrest Cemetery in Valdese, NC. at 2:00 PM. Receiving of friends and family at the home of Judy Lambert, 200 Laurel St., Valdese, NC 28690, following the Memorial Service.
