Fannie Viola Johnson Stamey Swink, 90, of Morganton, passed away on Sunday, August 18, 2024 at Autumn Care of Drexel following a period of declining health.
Fannie was born January 1, 1934 in Lincoln County to the late Junie Wise Johnson. She was a charter member of Solid Rock Baptist Church and retired from Alba Waldensian. Fannie was known as a hard worker and continued to work in retail after her retirement. She enjoyed working in her vegetable gardens and her flower gardens; and canning what she had grown; okra being her favorite. Fannie also loved going to the beach and fishing.
In addition to her mother, she is preceded in death by her step-father that raised her, Zero Johnson; husbands, William “Buck” Stamey and Bobby Swink; son, Larry Stamey; brothers, William “Bill” Johnson, and Forrest Johnson; and sister, Elleane Lackey.
She is survived by her daughters, Vicky Shuffler, and Sandy Carter and husband Ken; daughter-in-law, Debbie Stamey Brittain and husband Don; grandchildren, William Fowler Jr. and fiancée Laura, Christopher Carter and wife Ashley, and Jonathan Carter; great-grandchildren, Zachary Fowler, Christian Fowler, Morgan Fowler (and their mother, Jennifer Maxwell Fowler), Kaylee Carter, Cooper Carter, and Avery Carter.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 22, 2024 at 5:00 PM in the Chapel of Heritage Funeral Service with Pastor Shane Ramsey and Pastor Shane Epps officiating. Interment will follow at Burke Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends on Thursday prior to the service from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM.
