Evelyn McMillan Alderson, 65, of Morganton passed away on Tuesday, February 7, 2023 at UNC Health Blue Ridge in Morganton following a brief illness.
Evelyn was born on October 21, 1957 in Grayson County, Virginia, to Wade M. McMillan and Mattie Williams McMillan. She worked for Leviton for thirty-five years. Evelyn was an avid animal lover, and she worked with Burke County Animal Services.
She is preceded in passing by her father.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Raymond “David” Alderson; her mother; brother, Thomas “Tom” McMillan and wife Carla; sisters, Gaynell Spann and husband Clifton, Brenda Rieke and husband Neal, and Debra Warren and husband Randy; step-children, Edwin and Apryl; and many nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, February 18, 2023 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Heritage Funeral Service.
A Receiving of Friends will be held one hour prior to the service at Heritage Funeral Service.
Memorial Contributions may be made to Burke County Animal Services at PO Box 52, Morganton, NC 28680 by check made payable to ASFI.
Ashley and I were so happy we got to talk to you Some weeks back. We didn’t know you would go so soon. David loved his Evie and now he will be there to greet you. We will miss that sweet smiling face.

It’s rare to know that someone who has passed was a true blessing to the world. Even those of us who only touched her life breifly and not frequently are aware of the huge lose to the world Evelyns dying is.
Praying, still so hard to believe. I will miss my sweet, loving, beautiful cousin. My heart is broken.

Dave, it has been quite awhile since I saw Evie. When Ralph and I retired from Leviton we didn’t see any of our Leviton family anymore. I have so many happy and fond memories of Evie. She always had a smile and something good to say. She will be missed by those who knew her, thoughts and prayers for Dave and family’.
