Mr. Evan Douglas Buff (Doug), 75, of Connelly Springs, passed away on Sunday, March 19, 2023 at Catawba Valley Medical Center, following a period of declining health. Doug was a man of great character and love, and his passing leaves an enormous void in the hearts of those who knew him. He was a beloved father, husband, and a friend who touched the lives of so many.
Doug was born on July 12, 1947 in Catawba County to the late Virgil Jones Buff and Emma Flo Watts Buff. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a graduate of Lenoir-Rhyne University. He was a devoted, longtime member of Mount Hebron Baptist Church, and served the church in many ways, including being a Sunday School teacher, chairman of the Deacons and on various other church committees. Doug had many hobbies, such as golf, fishing, shooting pool, beekeeping, and tinkering in his shop. When his sons were younger, he was involved with coaching youth baseball and basketball. He maintained a constant desire to learn new things throughout his life. He taught himself how to play the guitar, enjoyed building model train sets, making music and working outside in the yard and garden. Doug also enjoyed taking on projects with his father when his parents lived next door
Survivors include his beloved wife, Betty Hildebran Buff of the home, two sons, Jonathan Christopher Buff and wife Jennifer, and Jeff Buff, all of Raleigh. Also surviving are three grandchildren, Isabella, Fiona and Tatum, one brother, Roger Buff and wife Donna, a sister, Janice Miller, and numerous nieces and nephews.

So sad. I love you Doug Buff ❤️
My deepest condolences to Doug’s family.
His soul rest in peace.
Betty, I am so sorry. I wasn’t aware Doug was having health issues. He was such a good and godly man. His Mom and Dad were such a blessing. They would visit my Dad in the nursing home, sing to him and pray with him. That meant so much to my Dad. I’m sure they were excited to welcome their son home. May God bless and help you thru this time. Dewayne Buchanan

It’s hard to believe Doug is no longer with us. He was a winner in so many ways. Yes, I know you will miss him greatly, but the good news is he is in the hands of Jesus. I know you will see him again. God bless each of you, my prayers will be with you!
