Mr. Ethan Lewis Hahn, 24, of Hildebran, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, November 20, 2023.
Ethan was born on April 27, 1999, in Catawba County to Mark Hahn and Holly Sain Hahn. He graduated from East Burke High School as the Valedictorian in 2017 and went on to graduated Suma Cum Laude with a bachelor’s degree in computer science from Appalachian State University. He was currently employed as a software engineer for ECRS. Ethan was a member of Mount Vernon Baptist Church in Boone and attended East Valdese Baptist Church here locally. He traveled on numerous mission trips, participated in a firewood ministry at Mount Vernon for the needy in the Boone area, and was preparing to travel through the United States to continue to spread God’s word to college campuses. It would be wise to say Ethan would point out his tragic passing as a way to ask friends and family if they were ready to meet their Lord & Savior, and that the moment could be upon any of us at any time.
Surviving in addition to his parents, is his sister, Kaylee Hahn of the home, his grandparents, Joe and Mary Ruth Hahn of Newton and Ralph and Judy Sain of Hildebran. Also surviving are numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 25, 2023, at 11:00 A.M. at East Valdese Baptist Church with Rev. Chip Stallings officiating. Interment will follow at Burke Memorial Park.
While no formal visitation will be held, Ethan will lie in state from 10:00 A.M. until 10: 45 AM on Saturday, at East Valdese Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Gideons International or to livingwaters.com.
An online guestbook and obituary is available at www.heritagefuneralservices.com

Ethan was a fine young man and will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. Holly, Mark, and Kaylee, know that my family has been and will continue praying for you. We serve a mighty God that knows you’re hurting, understands the pain you all are feeling, and wants to hold you close as you mourn such a tragic loss. May His grace and mercy be evident during this time. We love and are praying for you.
My heart goes out to the Hahn family. I’ve known Mark Hahn, Ethan’s dad for 25 years. Mark always bragged on his children. Mark always told me of Ethan’s accomplishments. Ethan was always so very smart and loved the Lord. I pray that this tragedy would point someone to Him to be saved! Continued Prayers for the Hahn family!
Randy and I are so sorry for the loss of your son. But we do know that he is in heaven with the angels. Our only biological child drowned at age 21. He too was a dynamic on fire Christian like Ethan. God needs young people in heaven. Heaven would be so boring with just senior citizens. Please take comfort in knowing that Ethan is fulfilling his heavenly calling in heaven.

Sorry for your loss. Prays for the family 🙏🙏
Prayers for comfort as you go thru this hard time. Ethan sounded like a wonderful young man who certainly love the Lord. May you find comfort in knowing he is watching down upon each of you. 😇🙏
Mr. and Mrs. Hahn and Kaylee, We have you in our thoughts and are praying for you. We lost our daughter, age six, to Leukemia in 1968. The verse that comforted me was “… absent from the body and present with the Lord.” The last message I sent to Ethan in September ended with 🎶”I want to stroll over Heaven with you some glad day!” Thank you for raising such a fine son. We are thankful for his Godly influence on Christian, our grandson. Mondale and Betty Payne, Mt. Airy, NC
Holly, Mark, Ralph and Judy, I am so sorry for your loss. I will be keeping you all close in my prayers, Praying for Gods comfort and peace during this season of your lives! Sending prayers and loves to you and all the family!
Dear Family,
We are so sorry for your loss. Please know that we have been praying for your family during this time of sadness. May our Lord hold you just a little closer as you walk in this terrible valley. So thankful for Amazing Grace to carry you through. Love and Prayers.
I met Ethan at Piedmont Hunt Club. He enjoyed the outdoors and fellowship with others. The passing of such a beautiful young soul reminds me that life is short and that our relationship with Jesus Christ is what matters most. Ethan was extension of Jesus Christ and his love in all that he did. Until we all meet again!
Sincerely,
Ralph & Eddie Haynes
Ethan was a very special young man. Hard working , very intelligent, generous, and extremely pleasant. He was loved and appreciated by all who worked with him. On behalf of ECRS, our deepest condolences to his family. Pete Catoe CEO
Love and prayers are with you and your family Mark. May the Lord’s nearness and togetherness with family be your comfort. Thank you for sharing – Ethan is a mighty man and faithful servant with the Lord. Life and love eternally. Psalm 73:28
Prayers for Ethan’s family, may you eventually have the peace that we know Ethan has now, he will always be with you.
It just broke my heart to hear of Ethan’s passing. I worked with Mark for years and as a previous commenter said, Mark was very proud of his children, with good reason, and would speak of them often. I never had the pleasure of meeting Ethan, but I know from hearing about him he was a Christian above all and we can take comfort in knowing he is with our Lord. I pray that he gives you his peace and comfort during this difficult time. 🙏
Sorry for your loss. Praying for your family.
I feel very blessed to have known and worked with Ethan. He was a genuinely kind, caring and friendly person. I never saw him without a smile on his face. I’m so sorry for your loss. We will miss him every day. Your family is in our prayers.
Our deepest condolences and prayers for the family .
