Mr. Ernie Lee Cline, 82, of Hickory, passed away on Monday, April 28, 2025, at Frye Regional Medical Center, following a period of declining health.
Ernie was born on November 9, 1942, in Cleveland County to the late Ernest Franklin Cline and Gladys Whitener Cline. He worked as a pharmacist for many years and continued so up until his retirement from Grace Hospital in 2012. Ernie was also a longtime member of Providence Baptist Church in Hickory.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Roxanna Soots.
Surviving is his beloved wife Diane Sellars Cline of the home, and two sons, Lee S. Cline and wife Zoe of Morganton, and Timothy Cline and wife Rachel of Hickory. Also surviving are six grandchildren: Ellie, Ethan, Eden, Silas, Millie and Etta.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 3, 2025, at 2:00 P.M. at Providence Baptist Church, with Rev. Chris Dale and Rev. Ernie Richards officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, from 1:00 until 2:00 P.M. at Providence Baptist Church, 7614 Providence Church Rd., Hickory, NC 28602.

I’m sorry to hear the passing of Ernie. I worked with him in the pharmacy at Grace Hospital for several years.He taught me how to swallow capsules ,he’ll probably laugh about that. Good memories. Blessings and prayers to the family.

So sorry for your loss. I worked with Ernie at Grace Hospital for a number of years. I worked on 6th floor,med surge floor when I started out.Anytime that I had a question or needed help with a med,he would take the time to give me the answer. He was the best of the best.I will always remember his kindness.
I am so sorry for your loss. I worked at Grace Hospital when Ernie worked in the pharmacy. He was always so nice and pleasant whenever I saw him in the hallways. He made a difference in coworkers and patients lives every day.
