Elgie Leslie Benfield, Jr., 79, of Drexel passed away Saturday, March 22, 2025 at UNC Healthcare Blue Ridge following a period of declining health.
Elgie was born May 11, 1945 in Burke County to the late Elgie Leslie Benfield, Sr. and Margaret “Ruth” Bowman Benfield.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Mason Cole Pridemore.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Martha Benfield of the home; children, Michael Benfield of Drexel, Kimberly Pridemore and fiancé Earl Shutz, IV of Valdese; and Tammy Benfield; grandchildren, Michaela Davis and husband Scottie of Lenoir, Lexie Benfield and fiancé Max Sainz of Claremont, Kaden Pridemore of Hickory, and Chloe Pridemore of Hickory; great grandchildren, Millie Sainz and Braelee Davis; brother, Doug Benfield and wife Debbie of Valdese; nephew, Darren Benfield and wife Madeline of Valdese; great nephew, Spencer Benfield and wife Avery; and great niece, Gracie Benfield.
