Edward Leon Treadway April 24, 1938 – March 04, 2023
On Saturday March 4th, Edward Leon Treadway, loving Husband, Father, and Papaw passed away in Morganton, NC at UNC Healthcare Blue Ridge after a period of declining health.
Leon was born in Yancey County, NC to the late Paul C. and Belle Caroway Treadway.
Leon was a Veteran of the United States Army and a member of Mount Calvary Baptist Church. He was well known in Valdese as a hard worker and a kind gentleman who liked to pull up a chair and share a meal with his buddies. Leon spent many years working for close friends, Mike & Tim Buff, at Buff’s Tire Service in Morganton. He enjoyed traveling, fishing, reading, playing records and tinkering in his workshop. Leon loved all the simple things in life and especially loved spending time with his family.
Leon was preceded in death by his spouse, Martha Joan Burns Treadway; son, Timothy Carl Treadway; parents, Paul & Belle Treadway and sisters Doris T. Zimmerman and Patricia T. Oliver.
Leon is survived by his daughter Teresa T. (David) Camp; grandchildren Alycia (Carter) Anderson, Derek Turner, Tayler Treadway (Jared James) and Chase Treadway (Joshua Pyles); great grandchildren Blake Turner, Avery and Spencer Anderson; brother, Leroy (Diann) Treadway and numerous nieces, nephews, neighbors and friends.
He will be greatly missed by his loving family and our hearts will be ever thankful for the time we had with him. Leon’s loved ones are sincerely grateful to all those who provided words of support and comfort during this time of loss.
