Mrs. Dorris Jeanne Curtis Watson, 74, of Connelly Springs, passed away on Monday, August 28, 2023, at Amorem Burke Hospice, Valdese, after a period of declining health.

Mrs. Watson was born August 10, 1949, in Cleveland County, a daughter of the late John William and Lucille Ramsey Curtis.  She retired from the textile manufacturing industry in the quality control department.  Dorris graduated from Biloxi High School (Miss.), Western Piedmont Community College with an associate degree, she then graduated from McDowell Technical Community College with a degree in Cosmetology and later with a Cosmetology Teacher’s degree.  She was a member of the National Vocational Technical Honor Society, a member and president of the Phi Beta Kappa Society, and held many certifications for extra training.

Surviving are her husband, Ned S. Watson of the home, a son, Johnny Thomas Shull (Aimee) of Cary, NC, granddaughter, Kelcey Shull, and two sisters Jackie Greer (Joe) of Glen Alpine and Linda Phillips of Salem.  Also surviving are nieces, Angie Ross, Renee Leonhardt, Carrie Greer, Kathy Campbell, and nephew, Chuck Campbell.

Funeral Services for Dorris Curtis Watson will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday August 31, 2023, in the Chapel of Heritage Funeral Service with Joe Greer officiating.  Entombment will follow in the Burke Memorial Park Mausoleum.

The family will receive friends from 1 until 2:00 P.M. Thursday at Heritage Funeral Service.
