Mrs. Dorothy Raye Chapman Lowery, 101, of South Daytona, Florida, passed away at Halifax Health Hospice following a period of declining health.
Ms. Lowery was born on June 24, 1921 to the late Solomon Cobern Chapman and Emma James Chapman in Alexander County, North Carolina. She loved gardening in her vegetable and flower gardens and was fond of all her plants. She spent all day in the yard until she was nearly a hundred years old.
In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in passing by her sisters, Dona Chapman Orren, Grace Chapman Burns, Maggie Chapman Mcentire, Mae Chapman Pearson, and Mary Chapman; brothers, Plumer James, Ceph Chapman, Elisha Chapman, Floyd Chapman, and Donald Chapman; and daughters, Mary Neil and Joanne Lowery.
Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Deion Lowery and wife Janice; her grandchildren and the joys of her life, Michael, Matthew, and Emily; nieces and nephews, Kay, Cindy, Ricky, Pat, and Sissy; and several other nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, May 16, 2023 at Burke Memorial Park’s Chapel of Memories with Rev. Marvin Wiley officiating.
The family will receive friends from 10:30 AM to 11:00 AM at the Chapel of Memories prior to the service.
