Mrs. Dorothy Lee Norman Carpenter, 86, of Glen Alpine passed away on Thursday, December 19, 2024, at Conover Rehab Nursing Home, following a period of declining health.
Dorothy was born on July 3, 1938, in Johnson County, TN to the late Paul Norman and Ruby Greenwell Norman. She was a retired inspector in the hosiery industry, and was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker, who will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Amos Carpenter, a stepbrother, Ron Norman, sister in-law, Robin Norman, and brother in-law, Sammy Vance.
Surviving are her four children, Sheila Norville and husband Junior of Drexel, Sandra Oaks and husband Andrew of Lincolnton, Jerry Carpenter of Glen Alpine, and David Carpenter and wife Mary of Hickory. Also surviving are six grandchildren: Holly Rose, Erica Huffman, Whitney Proctor, Brandon Carpenter, Kara Carpenter and Ashley Carpenter, ten great-grandchildren, and her four siblings, Pauline Vance, Tom Norman and wife Marie, Ray Norman, Brenda Blackwell and husband Bobby, and Linda Johnson and husband Ray.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 27, 2024, at 2:00 P.M. in the Chapel of Heritage Funeral Service, with Rev. Gene Self officiating. Interment will follow at the Glen Alpine Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Friday, from 1:00 until 2:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Service in Valdese.
