Ms. Donna Clayton Hettrick, 100, of Valdese, passed away on Wednesday, August 9, 2023, at her residence.
Donna was born March 21, 1923, in Palo Alto, California to the late John and Nellie Needles Clayton. Those who knew Donna would say she was a well rounded individual with many talents. She raised three daughters, was a self taught seamstress, gardener and excellent cook.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, of forty-one years, Robert G. Hettrick; daughter, Kathleen Hettrick; sisters, Marianna Holm and Joan Scott.
Surviving are daughters, Jacqueline Steele of Valdese and Leslie Hettrick of Daytona Beach, Florida; grandson, Michael Steele and wife, Meghan Armour Steele of Valdese; granddaughters, Teresa Dunlap and husband, David, Rene Sanzone-Averitt and Robin Sanzone Lewis; four great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
A private service will be held at 3:00 P.M., Thursday, August 10, 2023, at Burke Memorial Park.

I remember having Thanksgiving at you home with your delicious pecan pie, visiting you when you lived in Lexington and going to the horse park, and best of all, visiting your Aunt Lottie and playing at the beach in the Gulf! Wonderful times and loving memories. Thank you for visiting when Mom was in her last days and Leslie came to see Dad in his last months. Rest in peace, you deserve your final rest.
