Donald Edward O’Quinn, 81, of Hickory, passed away on Tuesday, February 6, 2024, at the Greens of Viewmont, following a period of declining health.
Donald was born on January 14, 1943, in Elizabethton, TN to the late Columbus O’Quinn and Ruth Fulton Adcox. He was a retired carpenter, who worked for many years with Bolick Construction Company.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Donald Eugene Lee O’Quinn.
Survivors include two son, Eddie Jones and wife Cheryl of Connelly Springs, John Jones and wife Rebecca of Hildebran, two daughters, Debbie Ross and husband Dean of Connelly Springs, and Mary Phipps and husband Elmer of Ashe County, thirteen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Also surviving are his siblings; Thelma Depew of TN, Carolyn Barlow of Hickory, Charles Adcox of Ashe County, Rick Pritchard of TN, Donna Adcox of TN, Stevie Adcox of Hickory and Kathy Adcox of S.C.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, February 10, 2024, at 4:00 P.M. at Connelly Springs First Baptist Church, with Rev. Danny Townsend officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.

Donald left his earthly home for his heavenly home to be with God and family members that have gone on to never part again. Donald has all ways been a special Cousin to me and my family. he will be missed but not forgotten. some times we woulden see each other for years but when we did it was like we were together only yesterday. he spent a lot of time at my home when we were growing up i will cherish these memories.so i want say good by Cousin just so long for a little while.i Love you cousin.
God bless Don and his family. Always smiling, laughing and very pleasant. Our loss is Heaven’s gain, I’m sure he had a grand reception when he passed through the pearly gates. Our prayers are with all family members and friends, wonderful memories we all have. We’ll see him again when our time comes to join him in Heaven.
