Donald Dolph Deal, 96, of Morganton, NC passed away on Tuesday, May 28, 2024, at UNC Blue Ridge after a period of declining health.
Donald was born February 11, 1928, in Burke County, to the late Wade Deal and Mabel Wheeler Deal. He honorably served in the United States Navy and was the oldest member of Mull’s Grove Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by the mother of his children, Thelma Gilbert Deal; his wife of over forty years, Virginia Fox Deal; daughter, Nancy Bennett; grandson, Greg Lovelace; brother, Worth Deal; sisters, Juanita DeWitt and Betty Pruett.
Those left to carry on his memory are a son, Jerry Deal; daughters, Brenda Carswell and husband Johnnie, Patricia Reid and husband Larry; son-in-law, Gary Bennett; step-children, Helen Duckworth, Lisa Korte and Steve Crane; grandchildren, Kim and husband Jon Cook, Dean Reid and wife Wendy, Gara Price and husband Neil, Crystal Smoot and husband Jason, Megan Williams and husband Kellen, Cody Deal and four step-grandchildren; great-grandchildren, David, Temple, Tory, Makaley, Casey, Jay, Bryson, Brennan, Christopher, Chandler, McKenzie, Landon, Kendal, Knoxton, and nine great-grandchildren; great-great grandchildren, Cooper, Espen, Cayson, Memphis, Elayna, Bentley and Kiptyn; brothers; Charles Deal and wife Janis, Phillip Deal and wife Jeanne Ann; a number of nieces and nephews;
Funeral Services for Donald Deal will be held on Friday, May 31st, 2024, at 3:00 P.M. in the Chapel of Heritage Funeral Service with Rev. Bud Jernigan officiating. Interment will follow at Burke Memorial Park.
The body will lie in state thirty minutes prior to the service at Heritage Funeral Service.

I will always cherish the funny things you would say to me. Every time I seen you smile my heart skipped a beat. I loved being able to take care of you for the months I was able to. I never knew what I was walking into every weekend but that smile was worth it. We always had our lunch and dinners together and you telling me about your daddy plowing. I will never forget you. You can rest now. God has you in his arms.
