Diana June Young Hass, 78, of Valdese, passed away on Tuesday, March 12, 2024 at Catawba Valley Medical Center after a period of declining health.

Diana was born July 10, 1945 in Buncombe County to the late Roy Young and Louise Brooks Young. She loved to read and spend time at the library, volunteering with various charities, and going to the beach.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Hass; daughter, Carolyn Ann Patton; grandson, Martin Conner; brother, Ronald Young; and sister, Betty Young.

She is survived by her daughters, Rhonda Black, Debra Causby and husband John, and Linda Conner; grandchildren, Josh Baker and wife Heather, Charles Black and wife Beth, Billie Marie Keller and husband Chris, Thomas Beard, and Welborn Barrier and husband Scott; and great grandchildren, Rylee Baker, Maverick Baker, Nathan Keller, Londyn Keller, Emma Keller, Alaina Beard and  Baylum Beard.

The family will hold a celebration of life at the North Carolina Veterans Cemetery in Black Mountain at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
