David Ernest Curtis, 74, of Morganton, passed away on Tuesday, December 27, 2022 at his residence.

David was born June 9, 1948 in Burke County to the late Rev. Henry E. Curtis and Bessie Bean Curtis. He served honorably in the United States Army and was a member of Conway’s Chapel Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by infant sister, Terry Curtis and sister Brenda Brown.

He is survived by his wife, Jo Stroup Curtis; daughter, Ashley Clark and husband Christopher; step-son, Steven Crockford; step-daughter, Shelly Spoon and husband Bill; grandchildren, Savannah Clark, Tyler Clark, Levi Meeks, Jessica Buckner and Benjamin Varsamis; and five great-grandchildren. Also surviving is his brother, Stephen Curtis and wife Becky; sister, Patricia Ann Lowman and husband Howard; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held by the family on Sunday, January 1, 2023 at 2 PM at Conway’s Chapel Baptist Church.
