Dale Lawrence Litterer, 75, passed away on January 11, 2025, after an extended illness. Born on February 17, 1949, in Greene, Iowa, Dale was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He lived his life with deep love for his family.
Dale proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, and later had a fulfilling career as a service technician with Multivac, Inc., working across the southeastern United States for over 25 years. An avid sports fan, Dale had a love for college football, cheering on the Iowa Hawkeyes and the UNC Tar Heels. In his retirement, Dale enjoyed gardening, woodworking, and lending a hand with home projects for his children. His steady presence, willingness to help his children, and dry wit were hallmarks of his character.
Dale was preceded in death by his parents Leonard and Vera (Koester) Litterer. He is survived by his wife Judy Litterer, and their children: Sara Keisler (Justin) of Granite Falls, NC; Rhonda Brown (Tim) of Raleigh, NC; and Jack Litterer of Newton, NC; two sisters, Myrna Ward (Skip) and Shari Proctor (Dale); three brothers, Stan Litterer (Lois), Gary Litterer (Sally), and Ron Litterer, and numerous nieces and nephews.
His greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren: Ethan Pons, Reid Pons, Faith Pons, Finn Brown, Alistair Brown, Addie Keisler, and Ellie Keisler. He loved seeing them in every activity, and he traveled across the state to attend their sporting events, concerts, and recitals—his favorite pastime in recent years.
Dale touched many lives with his gentle spirit and his deep commitment to his family. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Dale, it was such an honor to be apart of your life and to have known you. You always treated me as one of your own grandkids. I know you will be deeply missed but you are free of pain and rejoiced with your loved ones.

Grandpa, thank you for always being my biggest supporter. I can’t remember a single sporting event that I was in and you weren’t there. Didn’t matter if it was at Patton my senior year, or halfway across the state to watch little 60 pound Reid wrestle. I love you and miss you forever, Reid
Dale was an important part of my life for many years, he was always extremely supportive, reliable, and a man of his word. I am so grateful to have known him, and blessed to have had him in my life as a father in law, and grandfather to my children.
Thank you Dale, rest easy my friend.
Love, Jon Pons
