Connie Elaine Hastings, 72, of Rutherford College, went to her Heavenly Home on Saturday March 23, 2024, at UNC Health Care, Morganton, after a period of declining health.
Connie was born November 17, 1951, in Cleveland County, a daughter of the late Rev. Buren Hastings and Muriel Spake Hastings. She was a graduate of Hudson High School, Gardner Webb College, Lenoir Rhyne College and UNC Greensboro, with a Masters degree in nursing. Connie enjoyed her jobs in the ICU of Grace Hospital, and at Baxter Healthcare, Marion, NC. Connie was a faithful member of Abee’s Chapel Baptist Church, where she enjoyed her Church family. She loved her family, especially her nieces and nephews and was always the one to preside over the family gatherings. One of her favorite hobbies was scrapbooking, and spending time with the scrapbooking group.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Larry Hastings and brother-in-law, George Braidwood and sister- in-law Linda Hastings.
Surviving are two sisters, Christine Braidwood of Casar and Adene James (Bobby) of Lenoir. Also surviving are the apples of her eye, her nieces and nephews, Eric James, Edwin James, Heather Hastings, Loree Hodge, Larry Hastings, Jr. and great-nieces and great-nephews, Kristen Guyott, Erin Bowman, Benjamin James, Ceslie Lutz, Sawyer James, Samuel James, Lindsey Hodge and Laney Hodge, great-great nieces, Brooklynn Bowman and Kaylee Bowman, step-nephew, Randy Chester and a number of cousins and friends from everywhere she ever lived or worked.
The family would like to thank her friend, and caregiver, Dale Icard for her many years of service and friendship.
Funeral Services, for Connie Elaine Hastings will be held at 4:00 P.M. Thursday March 28, 2024, in Abee’s Chapel Baptist Church, with Rev. Tony Land, Rev. Eric James and Rev. Tim Hodge officiating. Interment will follow in the Olive Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, Casar, NC.
The family will receive friends from 3:00 until 4:00 PM Thursday at Abee’s Chapel Baptist Church.

I loved being around Connie. She was my scrapbooking friend. We enjoyed time together working on or scrapbooks full of memories. These books are filled with her family especially her nieces and nephews and she was so very proud of each of them. She will be missed but I’m thankful to know I will see her again.
