Mr. Clyde Gunter Harbison, 68, of Granite Falls, passed away on Monday January 29, 2024 at Amorem Support Caldwell Hospice and Palliative Care, after a period of declining health.
Mr. Harbison was born November 8, 1955, the younger son of the late Morgan Gibson Harbison, Sr and Nadine Gunter Harbison. Gunter was a faithful and active member of the Waldensian Presbyterian Church, serving as Deacon, Elder, Ushering Team Captain, Christmas Scene Volunteer, Homebound Communion Team, President of the Men of the Church, and a member of numerous committees including Nomination, Christian Education, Evangelism, Men of the Church Assistance, Stewardship and Finance, Music Staffing Search and went on numerous WPC Youth trips. He was the Recipient of the 2016 Men of the Church Award. He loved being around people and was well known at church and in the community, he served with the Baton Ruritan Club with perfect attendance for over 20 years and was a member and Past Master of the Lovelady Masonic Lodge 670 in Valdese. Gunter retired from Shadowline as MIS Director after over 28 years of service, when the company closed.
Surviving are his wife, Marsha Holloway Harbison of the home, and two daughters, Emily Annette Moore of Hickory, Erica Fornaro and husband Matthew of Raleigh and a brother, Morgan Gibson Harbison Jr. and wife Glenda of Granite Falls. Also surviving are the apples of his eye, his grandchildren, Elijah Moore, Damon Moore, Levi Gunter Fornaro and Ophelia Fornaro.
Funeral Services for Clyde Gunter Harbison will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday February 2, 2024 in the Waldensian Presbyterian Church with Rev. Dr. Lance Perry officiating. A closed interment will follow in the Glen Alpine United Methodist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 1 until 2:00 P.M. Friday at the Waldensian Presbyterian Church.

Mostly gone now are the days when extended family gathered together often – many fond memories from long ago.
