I was proud to have known “Uncle” Clyde for the time that I have. He encouraged his fellow Ham operators to be nothing short of their best selves. I am happy to be among those he always encouraged to go to church at every opportunity and always be kind to your fellow man. We’re sure going to miss him a bunch. Thanks for being who you were, Uncle Clyde. Enjoy the place you’ve been longing to go for so long. 73.
Our condolences RIP
I had the honor of meeting Clyde at the Mt. Mitchell Hams “meet and greet” get together in Hickory several years ago and really enjoyed speaking with him. Clyde was also a regular check in to the McDowell Amateur Radio Club weekly net and we will definitely miss him joining us there.
God Bless and 73 my friend.

WA4OBC, affectionately known as Old Bad Clyde, was one of the first Ham Operators I got to know after becoming an operator. I don’t believe he ever met a stranger. It was always one the high points of going to a Hamfest, running into Clyde, because you knew he was there, somewhere. Godspeed Old friend. Until we meet again, 73.
