Chris Kevin Smith, 67, of Valdese, passed away on Saturday, July 13, 2024 at Valor Hospice, Asheville VA Medical Center following a period of declining health.
Chris was born October 18, 1956, in Burke County, to the late G.W. Smith and Sue Sitton Smith. He served honorably in the United States Army and later worked as an In Home Care Aid. Chris had a love for gardening, woodworking, fishing and reading his Bible. He also shared a passion for music.
He is survived by his daughters; Jenne Hardesky and husband John of RI and Sarah Smith and husband Gareth of Charlotte, sister; Vickie Lovelace and husband Earl of Valdese; brother, Mark Smith and wife Stacy of Valdese, grandchildren; Wesley, Lauren, Parke, Carson Hardesky and Layla Ryan, niece; Paige Smith, nephews; Perry Holland and Liam Smith, aunt; Mildred McGee of Mt. Holly, uncle; Claude Sitton and wife Jo of Morganton, and numerous cousins.
A Memorial Service for Chris Kevin Smith will be held on Saturday, July 20, 2024 at 2:00 P.M. at the Cornerstone Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Jay Robison officiating.
The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, prior to the service.

Heritage Funeral Service and Crematory in Valdese is assisting the family.

So sorry to hear of Chris’s passing. He and my husband Jimmy were friends and chatting often. I went to visit him for a few at VA on July 5 when jimmy had surgery. We did not hear from him so rode over to his house. Too late. Prayers for you and your family.
