Rev. Charles Tommy Lewis, 83, of Connelly Springs, went to his Heavenly Reward on Monday December 12, 2022.

Rev. Lewis was born June 3, 1939, in Madison County, a son of the late Joby Horace and Ellen Fisher Lewis.  Charles served his Lord faithfully as a Baptist Minister for sixty-two years, with the last thirty-two years at Smart’s Grove Baptist Church in Connelly Springs. He graduated from Anderson Baptist Seminary with a Doctorate of Theology, VBC Bible Institute where he received his Bachelor of Arts in Biblical Studies, and Liberty Home Bible Institute where he studied general bible courses.

Surviving are his wife of sixty-four years, Mildred Whitaker Lewis, four daughters, Kim Lewis Earley (Greg) of Canton, Debbie Lewis Ledford of Connelly Springs, Lisa Lewis Lowman (Robert) of Connelly Springs, and Dawn Lewis King (Dicky) of Canton, two sisters, Glenda Lewis and Rita Oxendine of Fletcher.  Also surviving are the apples of his eye, his grandchildren, Anna Early, Rachel Early, Daniel Ledford, Teresa Nanny, Lana Lowder , Nathan Best, eight great-grandchildren and three great great-grandchildren.

A Service of Celebration will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday December 17, 2022 at Smart’s Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Gary Greene and Rev. Denver Burnside.  Interment will follow in the Smart’s Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 2:00 P.M. Saturday at Smart’s Grove Baptist Church.

Heritage Funeral Service and Crematory in Valdese is assisting the family.
